mec-15 encodes an F-box protein with WD repeats; mec-15 is required for the proper development and function of the six touch receptor neurons, and thus for response to gentle touch; mec-15 interacts genetically with some alleles of mec-7 and mec-12 which encode an alpha- and beta-tubulin, respectively; MEC-15 is expressed in the touch receptor neurons during larval development.

Located in perikaryon. Expressed in neurons and spermatheca. Is an ortholog of human FBXW9 (F-box and WD repeat domain containing 9).
