TypeIn_situWhole mount in situ hybridization analysis was used tomonitor the level and cellular distribution of CDR-1 mRNA in larval and adult nematodes.
PatternWhen cadmium-exposed C. elegans were hybridized to an antisense CDR-1 cDNA probe, CDR-1 mRNA was observed throughout the intestine in all post-embryonic developmental stages. In contrast, CDR-1 mRNA was not detected at a significant level in non-exposed nematodes. As a negative control, cadmium-treated C. elegans were hybridized to a digoxigenin-labeled CDR-1 sense probe. When the sense probe was used, CDR-1 mRNA was not detected.
