Subcellular_localizationThe most posterior and anterior regions of the intestine exhibited mainly basolateral labeling, whereas the region in between the two ends appeared to contain labeling predominantly at the apical surface.

PatternIn general, the expression patterns found for the translational fusion constructs were similar to those reported above for the transcriptional fusions. NHX-6::GFP showed patterns of expression that mimicked those observed previously. NHX-6::GFP was unique in that the targeting of this protein to a membrane domain appeared to be cell-specific; that is, the most posterior and anterior regions of the intestine exhibited mainly basolateral labeling, whereas the region in between the two ends appeared to contain labeling predominantly at the apical surface. This combination gave the intestine the appearance of a dumbbell.
