PatternAs for IRK-1, IRK-2 is also expected by be targeted to the plasma membrane. The most notable cells labeled by irk-2 promoter expression were neurons of the anterior ganglia, the pharyngeal intestinal valve cell, and the posterior intestine, where again clear basolateral plasma membrane targeting can be observed. In adults, the spermatheca and the uterus were prominently labeled, and the IRK-2 fusion protein resided in the plasma membrane. It is interesting that irk gene expression was notably absent in muscle and hypodermal cells.
