Disease_model_descriptionThe C. elegans strain LSD2104 is a secreted form of human A-beta(1-42) tagged with GFP and is induced by heat shock; it is expressed in most tissues but predominantly in neurons and the hypodermis. This strain serves as a model for an inducible expression and secretion of human A-beta(1-42) tagged with super-folder GFP, in order to study neurodegeneration. This form of A-beta is retained and forms non-mobile structures in the extracellular matrix (ECM). RNAi knockdown of the cuticular collagen, dpy-3, resulted in the complete absence of both flower and moss patterned A-beta aggregates.
