Patrick McGrath (2006). Analysis of the neural circuitry required for the omega turn presented in Neuronal Development, Synaptic Function, and Behavior Meeting. Unpublished information; cite only with author permission.
C. elegans displays many complicated types of behavior, such as various taxis behaviors, social behavior, and learning behavior. These behaviors manifest themselves through the modulation of the C. elegans movement, either through modulation of speed, reversal frequency, or omega turn frequency. Here, we present preliminary analysis of the omega turn. The omega turn is characterized by a large change in direction of the worm and is coupled to long reversals. An omega turn can be induced through multiple stimuli, and we analyze the properties and neurons required for the omega turn for each of the different stimuli.
