(C) The two cells positive for IMA-2 are the germ line precursor cells Z2 and Z3. An extruded hermaphrodite germ line with IMA-2 is shown in red. The distal end is to the left and the spermatheca is to the right (indicated by the bracket). IMA-2 is cytoplasmic and nuclear in all germ cells but is not detected in sperm.
