At the cell scale, the gfp pattern in (a) is a repetition of almost continuous (arrows) and broken (arrow heads) lines, and resembles that of proteins localized at both dense bodies and the M line. (c) At higher magnification, the gfp pattern is more patchy. The vinculin pattern (red), which marks dense bodies, is intercalated between the almost continuous lines seen in (b).
