Asmt [Search on AGR]
Mus musculus PHENOTYPE: Pineal melatonin synthesis requires enzymes encoded by Asmt and Aanat. C57BL/6, BALB/c, AKR/J, NZB/Bl, IS/Cam, and CAST/Ei carry the a allele of Asmt and lack melatonin. SK/Cam, SF/Cam, PERU, and FDS carry the b allele and have normal melatonin levels. [provided by MGI curators]
Ezg [Search on AGR]
Mus musculus PHENOTYPE: The dominant allele of Ezg determines a wide, well defined adrenal zona glomerulosa in CBA and A/Cam; the recessive allele, a narrow poorly defined zona in Peru and SF/Cam. Sodium deficiency causes glomerular hypertrophy in CBA, but not Peru mice, although aldosterone secretion rate is the same. [provided by MGI curators]
Gypc [Search on AGR]
Homo sapiens Glycophorin C (GYPC) is an integral membrane glycoprotein. It is a minor species carried by human erythrocytes, but plays an important role in regulating the mechanical stability of red cells. A number of glycophorin C mutations have been described. The Gerbich and Yus phenotypes are due to deletion of exon 3 and 2, respectively. The Webb and Duch antigens, also known as glycophorin D, result from single point mutations of the glycophorin C gene. The glycophorin C protein has very little homology with glycophorins A and B. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]
