Drosophila melanogaster

dusky (dy) encodes a membrane-anchored protein of the zona pellucida domain protein familiy. Along with the homologous gene m, it regulates epidermal cell size/shape changes during wing morphogenesis. It also functions to remodel epidermal cell shape during embryonic and later developmental stages, through interactions with the extracellular matrix.
