- hh [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster hedgehog (hh) encodes the Hh signaling pathway ligand. It acts as a morphogen contributing to segment polarity determination, stem cells maintenance and cell migration. Post-translational modifications of the product of hh are essential for its restrictive spreading and signaling activity.
- boi [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster brother of ihog (boi) encodes a transmembrane protein that binds to the product of hh. The products of boi and ihog promote Hh signaling in receiving cells by acting as a co-receptor for the effector protein encoded by ptc. The product of boi also can suppress Hh signaling through a sequestration and release mechanism in cells producing the product of hh. It regulates many hh-dependent processes including proliferation, cell fate specification, and patterning.
- Sulf1 [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster Sulfated (Sulf1) encodes a heparan sulfate modifying enzyme, which extracellularly removes specific 6-O-sulfate groups from heparan sulfate in a post-synthetic manner. It regulates Wg signaling by reducing extracellular wg protein levels. It also regulates Hh signaling by acting as a positive regulator in cells producing the product of hh and a negative regulator in cells receiving the product of hh.
- Cdc37 [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster Cell division cycle 37 (Cdc37) encodes a putative chaperone that inhibits Wnt and Hh signaling pathways.
- ci [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster cubitus interruptus (ci) encodes a Zn-finger family of transcription factor. It contributes to Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway that is involved in pattern formation and growth control. The product of ci undergoes limited proteolysis to be converted into a truncated form that function as a transcription repressor in the absence of the ligand encoded by hh but is converted into a full-length transcription activator in the presence of the product of hh.
- cos [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster costa (cos) encodes a kinesin-like protein and a key component in the Hedgehog (Hh) pathway that is involved in pattern formation and growth control. It forms a complex with the product of fu to restrict the activity of the Hh pathway transcription factor encoded by ci.
- disp [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster dispatched (disp) encodes a multipass transmembrane protein and a member of the RND transporter family. It is required for the release and long-range activity of the lipid-modified product of hh from producing cells. The products of hh and disp control cell growth, survival, fate, and patterning.
- dlp [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster dally-like (dlp) encodes a glypican that regulates the signaling strength and range of the morphogens encoded by hh and wg.
- ptc [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster patched (ptc) is a segment polarity gene that encodes a 12-pass transmembrane protein involved in Hh signalling regulation. ptc product contributes to the binding, internalization and degradation of the ligand encoded by hh, limiting its activity spatial range. ptc product also represses the constitutive signaling activity of the transmembrane protein encoded by smo.
- Tnpo [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster Transportin (Tnpo) encodes a protein involved in Hh signalling regulation by mediating the import of the transcription factor encoded by ci into the nucleus.
