Mus musculus PHENOTYPE: Strain variation is seen by isoelectric focusing: BALB/c, AKR and C57BL/6 (a allele) display bands; NZB, BDP, CE, I/Ln, P/J and C58 (b allele) do not. DNA analysis with a V-kappa1A probe divide b allele strains: BDP, CE, I/Ln and P/J show the same BamHI bands as a allele strains; NZB and C58 do not. [provided by MGI curators]
Phka1 [Search on AGR]
Mus musculus PHENOTYPE: PHK activity is nearly absent in I/Ln skeletal muscle and reduced in brain, heart and kidney. The I-allele sequence is known to have a single nucleotide insertion (frameshift). A different allele in strain V reduces PHK activity to 25% and is dominant tonormal and I-strain alleles.
