nervana 3 (nrv3) encodes one of three beta subunits of the sodium-potassium pump (ATPalpha). nrv3 is expressed in the nervous system, including subsets of the CNS and Johnston's organ neurons, and is required for hearing.
CAP (CAP) encodes a protein that localizes to focal adhesions and associates with proteins that regulate cytoskeletal organization, including the product of Vinc. It regulates the assembly and function of two actin-rich structures: the larval muscle attachment site, and the fly chordotonal organs in the larval body wall and in the adult Johnston's organ.
no mechanoreceptor potential C (nompC) encodes a pore-forming subunit for a mechanosensitive non-selective cation channel. It belongs to the TRP channel family and is expressed in peripheral sensory neurons. It senses gentle touch and regulates locomotion in larval body wall neurons. In the adult, the product of nompC is involved in hearing transduction in the Johnston's organ.
