tsg [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster twisted gastrulation (tsg) encodes a BMP binding protein that makes a tripartite complex with the product of sog and a heterodimer formed with the products of dpp and scw. This complex is a favoured substrate for the product of tld, which processes the product of sog and liberates the heterodimer formed with the products of dpp and scw.
sax [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster saxophone (sax) encodes a type I BMP receptor. Together with the BMP receptors encoded by tkv and put, it transduces signaling of the BMP ligands encoded by dpp, gbb and scw, in a wide variety of developmental processes including embryonic and imaginal disc patterning.
Ank3 [Search on AGR]
Mus musculus PHENOTYPE: Homozygotes for a mutation that selectively ablates gene expression in brain exhibit progressive ataxia, tremors, and a substantially reduced cerebellum deficient in Purkinje cells. Mutants are poor breeders and die by 4-6 months. [provided by MGI curators]
Mad [Search on AGR]
Drosophila melanogaster Mothers against dpp (Mad) encodes the primary transcription factor that mediates cellular response to the BMP like ligands encoded by dpp, scw and gbb. Upon phosphorylation by either the products of sax or tkv (type I BMP receptors), it forms a complex with the product of Med and translocates to the nucleus where, together with cofactors, it regulates expression of BMP response target genes.
