After L1 - L4 larval stages, the levels of 0.9 kb and 1.35 kb transcripts increase. 1.5 kb transcript remains low. Adult 0.9 kb and 1.35 kb transcript levels drop. 1.5 kb transcript remains low.

A probe generated from the 1.1 kb EcoRI fragment of the lin-29 cDNA detects both the 2.4 and 1.8 kb transcripts beginning in the L1 stage. These transcripts increase in abundance as development proceeds to the L4 stage, and then decrease at least 5-fold relative to the L4 levels in adults. The abundance of the 1.8 kb transcript increases slightly relative to the 2.4 kb transcript during larval development.
